About Us
Our passion in designing and crafting outdoor furniture was inspired by the late 19th to the early 20th century of the Dutch colonization era in the East Indies. History reveals a similar goal was shared between the colonial artists and their counterparts in Europe in the contrivance of comfortable home living. In Java, the Dutch colonials made use of the abundance of the island’s natural resources and craftsmen. Timber and woven rattan were prevalent across European households in Batavia, the capital of the Dutch East Indies. Handcrafted rattan meubel (furniture) was perceived as luxury item and essential to home living among the wealthy colonial society.

For more than a decade, we have been creating modern outdoor rattan furniture designs and bringing them to life in our manufacturing facility in Indonesia. We harness the mastery of Javanese craftsmen in weaving rattan which has been passed down through generations since the colonial period until today.

Modern lifestyle has created a culture that is associated with fast paced trend changes, continuous innovation and flexibility. In Batavia, our main aim is to combine woven handicraft culture with modern elements to bring about excellent outdoor furniture products. Life gets more complex and the need for outdoor quality time with nature becomes compelling, therefore we present outdoor furniture products that are built to last.
